General Information

Sequoia Parks Conservancy employees interact with park visitors throughout the year in retail and outdoor settings. Our team prides itself on treating customers and each other in a manner that’s honest, accurate, and friendly.

We provide staffing for the visitor centers at Kings Canyon, Lodgepole, Giant Forest, Foothills, and Lake Kaweah. We also hire seasonal Field Institute naturalists for tours of Crystal Cave, Giant Forest, and other areas of the park.

Travel times vary depending on park locations, traffic, and conditions:
Central Fresno to Kings Canyon NP: 60 miles
Central Visalia to Sequoia NP Foothills: 38 miles
Central Visalia to Giant Forest: 51 miles
Central Visalia to Lodgepole: 56 miles

Help Protect Sequoia National Park!

Sequoia Parks Conservancy (SPC) is actively seeking a dependable, professional, and dedicated individual to fill our seasonal Crystal Cave Manager position. This is an exceptional opportunity to be on the front lines of visitor experience while directly contributing to the crucial work of protecting and preserving Sequoia National Park.

As the Cave Manager, you’ll play a key role in our Field Institute operations by overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Crystal Cave site in Sequoia National Park, including all on-site education, retail, and resource protection programs. Your work will directly support the Conservancy’s mission and enhance the visitor experience within one of America’s most iconic national parks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with SPC and Field Institute management to hire, schedule, supervise, train, and evaluate staff
  • Research, develop, and deliver high-quality interpretive programs and activities in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks and adjacent public lands.
  • Implement and direct Cave Standard Operating Procedures for extenuating and emergency situations
  • Plan special tours including NPS/SPC volunteer groups, outside researchers, media, school groups, and training sessions
  • Adhere to all Conservancy guidelines and procedures 

What We’re Looking For in You:

  • Availability: You must be available to work any day, including weekends and holidays, to meet the needs of our park visitors.
  • Seasonal Commitment: Ideal candidates will be available to work from March 2026 through November 2026. Priority will be given to applicants with longer availability, though some positions may have slightly adjusted start/end dates.
  • Experience:
    • Degree or equivalent experience in education, science, and/or history
    • Experience in management
    • Experience in guiding and resource interpretation preferred
    • Current first-aid, CPR, and AED certification required
    • Strong experience in teaching, conducting tours, or resource interpretation
    • Strong computer skills.  Strong understanding and experience with Microsoft Office products and Google Suite
    • Previous experience within a National Park or similar setting is highly preferred and will be given priority.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to work well with a diverse group of coworkers, the public, and agency partners.
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to walk a half-mile up a steep grade on an uneven surface in twenty minutes multiple times per day under air quality conditions that may range from moderate to unhealthy and temperatures up to 100 degrees. Must also be able to carry a loaded daypack on the cave trail and move heavy inventory, such as telescopes. This position works primarily outdoors.
  • Job Type: Full-time, Temporary/Seasonal 
  • Shift: 4/10 Works shift, Day and evening hours. 
  • Weekly Day Range: Includes every weekend and Monday-Friday availability.

As the Assistant Cave Manager, you’ll play a key role in our Field Institute operations by assisting the Crystal Cave Manager in the day-to-day operations of the Crystal Cave site in Sequoia National Park, including all on-site education, retail, and resource protection programs. Your work will directly support the Conservancy’s mission and enhance the visitor experience within one of America’s most iconic national parks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists the Crystal Cave Manager in the day-to-day operations of the Crystal Cave site and acts as the Manager on Duty when the Crystal Cave  Manager is not present
  • Maintains the inventory and ordering for the Crystal Cave in-park store and Crystal Cave site materials
  • Assists the Field Institute Management team in the training and professional development of the Field Institute staff
  • Provide Field Institute programs, including but not limited to: Crystal Cave programs, Astronomy programs, Private groups, and step-on tours
  • Adhere to all Conservancy guidelines and procedures

Help Protect Sequoia National Park!

Sequoia Parks Conservancy (SPC) is actively seeking dependable, professional, and dedicated individuals to fill Naturalist positions. This is an exceptional opportunity to be on the front lines of visitor experience while directly contributing to the crucial work of protecting and preserving Sequoia National Park.

As a Naturalist, you’ll play a key role in our Field Institute operations by providing Crystal Cave tours and public educational programs, which may include school education programs, guided hikes, and astronomy programs. Your work will directly support the Conservancy’s mission and enhance the visitor experience within one of America’s most iconic national parks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, write, and deliver interpretive programs to the public and to private and tour company groups throughout the park on subjects including, but not limited to, Crystal Cave, Living History, geology, and park flora and fauna
  • Participate in early-season deep cleaning and organizing of work sites
  • Assist in visitor center information desks throughout the parks and provide accurate and complete information to park visitors, when needed
  • Adhere to all Conservancy guidelines and procedures 

What We’re Looking For in You:

  • Availability: You must be available to work any day, including weekends and holidays, to meet the needs of our park visitors.
  • Seasonal Commitment: Ideal candidates will be available to work from May 2026 through November 2026. Priority will be given to applicants with longer availability, though some positions may have slightly adjusted start/end dates.

As a Park Store Associate, you’ll play a key role in our retail operations, selling unique Conservancy merchandise and providing essential information to park visitors. Your work will directly support the Conservancy’s mission and enhance the visitor experience within one of America’s most iconic national parks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately process sales transactions for Conservancy merchandise using point-of-sale systems.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting retail environment.
  • Collaborate effectively with fellow team members, park visitors, and agency partners (National Park Service).
  • Adhere to all Conservancy guidelines and procedures for retail operations and visitor services.

What We’re Looking For in You:

  • Availability: You must be available to work any day, including weekends and holidays, to meet the needs of our park visitors.
  • Seasonal Commitment: Ideal candidates will be available to work from May 2026 through November 2026. Priority will be given to applicants with longer availability, though some positions may have slightly adjusted start/end dates.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 1 year of prior retail experience is required.
    • Minimum 1 year of cash-handling and retail math experience is required.
    • Previous retail work experience within a National Park or similar setting is highly preferred and will be given priority.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication skills and a proven ability to work well with a diverse group of coworkers, the public, and agency partners.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to be on your feet for up to eight hours daily. This position primarily works indoors.
  • Job Type: Full-time, Temporary/Seasonal
  • Shift: Day shift, up to 8-hour shifts. 
  • Weekly Day Range: Includes every weekend and Monday to Friday availability.
